WIFI / WAN Roaming

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have recently taken delivery of my new Kodiak style, and apart format eh lack of an AM option on the radio I am quite happy with it .

However there is a weeee problem that is starting to cause me grief. I have put a sim car in my Columbus system with roaming enabled on it (both in the Columbus settings and on the SIM card) and I am unable to roam with data. I have tried several SIM cards in the system and none of them will let me roam. They all work perfectly with my home network. I am in good coverage (4G) at all times when I tried. When I enabled the sim to operate as the in car telephone , It will work as a telephone with the 4G symbol coming up on the top right hand side of the screen , but the I got back into data mode, I see the car symbol to the left hand side of the clock with the red globe behind it. I have tried several different networks with no positive result.

Has anyone got any ideas ?

First: are you sure data isn’t working?  (See if it pulls up the news.)

i say that because several of us have experienced the red globe when in fact data IS working.

no its not - it tells me that it cannot connect to the internet / data. and the wifi hotspot in my car will not give out data either

From memory, I ticked the business phone interface option, ticked only data connection and you should get a screen with what service provider you are using and if you are connected or not.

If you require a pin for the sim, it will be in a text message sent to the car.

There is specific box for data roaming in phone settings to tick.

I am using business profile and had never any issues with roaming all over the Europe.

Also red globe - half of February my Columbus showed white car and red globe, however the data was working. Only in mid February the symbol turned all white and has stayed so since.

Just remembered - tick also the boxes which say something "allow Skoda apps to use data".

I have done both and still no data connection. The Skoda services do not work and the wifi hotspot in the car will not give me wifi

Have you actually set up a Skoda Connect account and is the WiFi hotspot really something to worry about when you could do it easier on your phone?

yes

Is that to one part or both?

Just another thought then. There’s been a few posts recently about problems with the Skoda Vodafone sim - is it one of those?
If so could you try one of the 200mb Three (free too) ones if that is the case? Maybe not good for a WiFi streaming setup but more than adequate for Connect data.
