Featured Replies

Hi ppl

I have a 2011 fabia VRS 1.4 with the Dq200 DSG box I have been getting issues with it where when driving along the clutch will engage for about 2 seconds and the gear number will flash on the dash and then it will Disengage again and power will return also when pulling away the gear number will disappear on the dash and will not pull away when pressing throttle again for about 2/3 seconds then will suddenly pull away also and a few occasions where it is completely missing the odd gears got diagnostic done and only code I am getting is P705 clutch engagement unwanted sporadic periodic been told it will prob be the mechatronic unit which is a £1900 repair anyone Jane any idea if this theory is correct or have any input on it TIA

Where are you in Scotland?

Central belt mate just outside Edinburgh  checked out the link you put up but not sure if its the same fix I would need as I am getting no codes about hydraulic pressure just one about unwanted clutch engagement

Lets see if @Sittingbull can advise you on where to go which is more in your area, if he spots this post.

There is a very good Automatic Specialist in Forfar but no use to you.

Have you spoken with?

Hmmm, You can manually adjust the clutch pressure via VCDS. You might be looking at a new clutch to be fair, What gears is it missing out and you'll be able to tell if its clutch pack  k1 or k2.

When it completely misses gears it’s the odd gear clutch but when it’s doing the 2 second clutch engagement when driving its in all the gears so more and more thinking it’s the mech unit as that works the whole clutch unit and having problems through the whole gear ratio

Ive tried searching p705 & p0705 and cant find anything mate, is that definitely the code its firing up?

Is the car and engine OK?

You do not need to pay the crazy Main Dealer prices.

@Sittingbull was dealing with the incompetents that are Parks Skoda of Hamilton.

http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/444617-7sp-dq200-dsg-failure

Yeah the rest of the car is perfect been serviced regularly by myself as I do have knowledge of this when I worked for Kwik Fit and I like to look after my cars but due to the age and mileage it now has I am reluctant to pay thousands to get it fixed plus seen a nice A45 AMG I like the look of 😂😂

Sorry for the late intervention, I've been offline in all senses.

Personally I would get shot of it unless I could get a reasonable priced repair/ replacement job done, not being cheeky but the cost of repair at dealer to replace both Mech and Clutches could be thought of as an uneconomical repair on a 9 year old car with nigh on 90k on clock, maybe worth around £3500 to £4k . Sad to say this to a fellow owner but sometimes it's best to be blunt.

Cost 2 years ago for us at Main dealer, albeit it was those clowns at Parks, was £3200 all in, with the Mech coming in at £1149 plus vat plus fitting and the clutches coming in around £585 plus vat plus fitting.

But those are dealer prices. As Mick says there is a fix available depending on the actual fault for a fraction of that cost, and I think LUK clutches can be picked up for around £300 rather than close to 6. But you would need someone who had the gear and idea to repair it, it's not a simple fix.

Parks ultimately sent ours out to Alpine Transmissions in Blantyre, ostensibly to check the actual gearbox but in reality to finally repair it after 9 weeks off the road. Others around include Mackie in Glasgow, but I have no experience of their work so can't say if they would definitely go near a DSG.

An A45 AMG would perhaps be better sitting on your drive than the ticking time bombs that these can sometimes be. Sorry to be so negative, but these cars are ageing and showing it, we still have ours and do love it, but my goodness it's knocked a hole in the bank.

P175D - Have you noticed any oil leaks in around the box? Have a look underneath for hydraulic oil, that codes shows up quite often when the oil accumulator housing cracks and you slowly lose the litre of hydraulic oil in the oil accumulator and it loses pressure.

Also could be dead solenoid,bent/stuck selector forks as that also throws up P175D, best to look for the cracked housing that’s the most common however either way the box will need to come out to get looked at with that code.

You handy with a tool set? It’s doable on your own if you ain’t shy of taking things apart.

P17BF is the code that you can fix for £200

If yours housing is cracked you can get the full housing kit, screws and gaskets from china(unlikely at the moment due to corona) for £50, It’s around £80 from Germany without the gaskets etc but if yours are in good nick they’ll be reusable.

Can do certain things like brakes, suspension and things like that but I ain’t got any kind of knowledge of gearboxes I wouldn’t even know where to start tbh I have went and got a new car but gonna keep the VRS and try fixing it with my brother who is a HGV mechnic so will pretty much become a project now hopefully fix the problem and add a few upgrades and a stage 2 remap make it a little pocket rocket anyone has any ideas for upgrade parts and what not am all ears guys as usual very grateful for the advice and help will have a look for that gearbox leak as off work for 3 weeks with this coronavirus stuff so VRS is the project during that time 😂😂

Its easy enough to drop the box out mate and have a wee look, your mechanic should do that no bother and to get into the mech unit  itself its just 2 bolts and different size torque’s to get in about it.

I have a video guide on changing all the parts when the box is dropped out, If time ain’t a problem I’d definitely give it a go as your talking about 3-4 hours the first time as you need to drain the oil and then refill both parts of the box with oil again.

I was baffled how easy it to change parts of the mech unit when it’s off the car and no special tools are needed and good news is there’s tons more parts available for the DQ200 these days compared to 4-5 years ago when everyone took there’s to skoda and got bent over and shafted!

Performance wise -

Intercooler, exhaust, filter and yours ready to go stage one or 2.

Im running forge filter, Forge DV, turbo back exhaust with decat,RTMG intercooler and oil catchcan,Gearbox(Stage1)and ecu(Stage2)mapped by RTMG.Stage 3 is when is when you need deep pockets and forged internals.

If I had the spare cash I’d go for the RTMG air filter and diverter valve, r8 coils and RTMG turbo pipe.....Oh and forged pistons, Hybrid turbo, S3 valve springs....Ah the list is endless lol
