Can anyone please tell me if my 201 2 tsi4x4 petrol yeti has a timing belt or a timing chain .vin tmbmb75l6c6057988. The service centre where i bought the yeti has closed and i now use a local mechanic. He’s not sure . Any help greatly appreciated .thanks .mike

Is this a 1.8TSI ?  Then it is a timing chain.     There are possible issues you need to know about, best look at the pinned thread at the top of the Octavia Mk2 section 

on Euro 5 1.8 & 2.0 TSI's

5th digit B so must be 1.8 petrol and 10th digit C = 2012
As Above it's a timing chain.

OK, the question has been addressed. Frankly though, if my mechanic wasn't sure about this (or was sure but wrong), I'd change mechanics!
