The UK treasury are flying a kite, briefing people and might well go through with this on the change in taxation.

The thing is there will be many changes in the taxation of road fuels to come.  Petrol, Diesel (Derv), LPG & maybe even Electric.

Then changes to Agricultural, Marine use fuels.

There are issues now with Red Diesel that farmers and others are experiencing that the UK Government seen to be ignoring.

They could just use normal diesel and recoup through the tax system although I bet they'll make the farmer pay up first them wait 24 months to get the money back.

Probably through some new multimillion pound IT system which will be 5yr late and millions over budget and not work

A commentator on the telly just pointed out the other uses of Red Diesel, so not just in Agriculture, Marine but the generators and pumps being used in the floods, at carnivals / fairs and circuses. Building sites, motorway construction, HS2 buiding and railway repairs

So 2 years before a change in the Duty.

Not for Farming, Marine, Rail, Heating.    So just a huge increase in the cost to Construction including the likes of HS2 construction.

That will get changed before it ever happens in 2 years time.   But only time will tell.
