powered tailgate issue

Featured Replies

Has anyone had similar experience to below?

Had my 14 plate Superb Mk2 Combi serviced by Skoda and they (with my permission) updated some software designed to overcome some sensor issues, eg for turn lights [of which I have had no problems].

Within about 3 minutes of leaving dealer I opened tailgate and first noticed luggage cover didn't retract. Further examination revealed that the tailgate is not closing properly, and further research reveals that the detent in the centre of sill is not moving to fully close the tailgate. This detent can only move once the system has detected the tailgate latch has engaged.  I don't like coincidences and find it highly improbable that this issue should occur just as the car is serviced and sensor related software is introduced. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

What did the dealer say when you told them?

The longer you leave it the harder it will be, after noticing after 3 minutes I'd have been stood back in reception at 6 minutes asking them to fix the boot lid.

Thanks for your response.     did inform the dealer, and they have accepted as a "gesture of goodwill" to remedy the fault (caused by software update) at their cost. They got hold of Skoda UK HQ who submitted a software fix - which didn't work!  Dealer also changed tailgate part of lock (unnecessary in my view) and it still doesn't work. Now awaiting a new sill part of the softclose mechanism to arrive and be fitted. What I find extraordinary is Skoda can't revert to previous software, haven't they got archives?  Always proud to talk of their highly trained technicians, but just changing physical parts out when the issue is control software doesn't smack of high training. I speak as a retired international telecoms engineer.
