Has anyone got a noisy gear box, especially in fourth about 30 - 35mph? Gear shift is also very inconsistant, with the occassional 'clonk'.

Get it looked at by a retailer and get it fixed under warranty asap.

Had dealer look at it, and they say its normal? But the gear box is a pain in the butt. One of my mates has a Fabia VR-s, and its 6 spd is sweet.

I had a problem with engaging reverse for a while, one day i thought i'd have a fiddle with the adjustable linkages that are attached to the gear box. After about 2 minutes of running backwards and forwards checking the changes made by very slight adjustments, the gearbox feels brand new now. Be careful though, I'm sure you could a lot of damage if you make too much of an adjustment. I marked the threads before I moved anything.

yea my 54 plate vrs is a pain to get into reverse sometimes too

As a closure the dealer emailed factory and they directed the dealer to replace it under warranty. Had to wait awhile for the replacement (especially since the first replacement was the normal ratio 5 spd), but now its sweet Also purchased a Fabia VR-s to get more of that smooth 6 Spd action
