hi guys,

 

just got to Cornwall last night and my steering fluid is empty so i went to check how much green fluid i have left and its not enough to fill the reservoir but i used it anyway,

 

the closest halfords is 21 miles away!

 

so i went to the petrol station just down the road and bought some more but the colour of it is red.

 

question is, can i still use it?

It sounds like your steering rack has burst an end seal - or a pipe has failed, so not much to lose if you use any steering fluid, though I'd think that by now you have already got the system filled up, for now.

its been like this since i got the car. all ive been doing is filling it up. the thing is, it will last if i just drive to work and back but as soon as i do a 350 miles to cornwall then that is where the problem starts. as soon as i get to cornwall, the power steering goes, it is ok for short distance but long distance is a no no.
