Another Cambelt question

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am new to this site which I stumbled across while searching for info re timing of the cambelt change for my octavia. I have had the car for just over a year, it is 4 years old and has done just under 70k miles. I took it in for an mot and service last week and an advisory note was made that the cambelt should have been changed at 60k miles. When we bought the car the skoda dealer said it did not need to be change until 8Ok, I have checked the service manual and cannot understand if it should be changed at 60 or 80k as it states some should be done at 60 and some at 40. What do you think should I get it changed now or wait another year until it has done about 80k.

Help I am very confused.

Thanks

Sorry I am not doing very well here, just read my original message and I have made an error, I meant to say that the service schedule said some engines should be done at 60 and some at 80(not 40 as I typed)

When was it registered? 2002 is right on the change from 60-80k.

There is a write up in this month's Car Mechanics magazine on how to do an Octy TDi Cam Belt

Cool.. I would order it online, but it won't fit through the letter box and I would have walk into town to collect from the post office anyway....
