Filler flap does not unlock with central locking

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I am stuck with this problem. The filler flap on my 2013 yeti will not unlock, and obviously I need to put diesel in.

I have read the manual. Unlocked and locked many times using the fob, the key and the central locking button (centre console). The fuse seems to be shared with the whole locking system which is working fine.

I've tried driving some and trying again. I've had previous with this but managed to get it somehow. But this time it isn't budging. I'm almost at the point of forcing it open but worried about causing excessive damage.

Maybe I'll have to take it to a Skoda dealer, but is rather deal with it at home with the pandemic as it is. Can anyone help?

I've strayed into Yeti territory EEK

A friend had this with a VX and just by sort of tapping (not quite a push) on the flap whilst opening with key would get it to open most days, once opened and deciding to fix it properly involved a clean of the bodywork plunger/flap ring/flap hinge with silicone spray on plunger and hinge area fixed it - or some lesser combination.

PS. do not get silicone spray on bodywork as body shops will hate you forever - or it'll ruin the paint they try to apply.

As above hold flap in while pressing unlock on the fob is best bet.
The bit you want is easy to get to if you can open the flap.
Just one screw to take out, the bit you want is strangely called "Throttle Control Element Fuel Filler Flap""

Part 5 Here

My 2015 Yeti does not have a remote release for the fuel filler, perhaps because its a poverty model. after 2 Octavias with them I was in a real flap the first time at a filling station, eventually decided there was not one but did not know how to open the flap manually (its obvious) then found a locking filler cap that I could not release with the key (less obvious).

Now I know how it all works I am much happier with the cheaper more reliable & more secure set up after having problems on the Octavia.

To the OP, most things seem similar to the Octavia so probably removing the rear side trim will allow you to manually release the flap via the solenoid.

Been there, done that!
