Automatically change clock to summertime

Featured Replies

Who those who do not know yet and might find it useful.

VCDS:

Controller 5F (Information Electr.)

10 - Adaptations

Select channel: Summertime-automatic

Adjust Value to Europe

A bit of fun, perhaps, for those with VCDS - but will it then get confused when Europe cancels the idea of summer time next year?

According timezone submenu appears in infotainment, where you can untick the box to stop it.

Does it simply adjust the time by 1 hour, or does it change the time to European time (CET)?

Is there therefore a setting for the UK (BST), instead of Europe?

It adjustes by 1 hour, no matter where you live or which timezone you are in.

I wonder why this option isn't enabled as standard?

Haven’t tried it but does the automatic summer time option not work?

Not on our Kodiaq, no.

Frustrating, the description in the manual and on the screen suggests it should, but on our 2018 Kodiaq it doesn't work. We have to change it manually.

Yes, my 2019 Kodi didn`t have this option as well before I coded it.

Agreed, really strange why this feature is not abled by default.

One more thing I remember the first Superb 3 had but has gone now: automatic time zone change by GPS. Driving accross the Europe it kept the right time all the way. It even adjusted the headlights to RHD/LHD when crossing the Canal.

Or just go out and tick / untick the box.  FOC

It`s hard to tick a box if don`t have any.

VCDS coding enables one.

Time zone keeping cannot be done with any box tickings. Or even with VCDS

I think adjusting clocks twice a year can be done by any competent child.

No one, but no one, needs VCDS or any other device to set their clocks twice a year.

But carry on lads 😀 And lasses of course.

Can you tell we’re getting stir crazy.

Lots of things can be done manually. No one is blaming you if you like it.

I like things this way.

I believe the option to set either EU or US when making this update relates to the date at which summertime changes, US is beginning of March and EU 3 weeks later, end March.

If I remember correctly, there were only two options: Europe or blank.

When I changed mine a month ago there were 3 options, EU, US and automatic.

Mine changes automatically. I just ticked the box 'Automatic time zone change by GPS'

Time zone is different from summer time, though.

The GPS will know where you are, and can work out from that which time zone you are in.  It won’t know from your location whether summer time has been activated.

All I have done is tick the box for Automatic time zone by GPS and it has recently changed the time by +1 hour without any other input from me.

Brilliant!

It is just automatic time adjustment by GPS.

It even does not change the timezone, when travelling accross the Europe. At least on mine.

And did not switch the DST until VCDS tweak.

I was in the UK over Christmas and as soon as I came off the ferry in Portsmouth the time in the car changed to UK time -1 hour

When I returned to France the same thing happened the car changed to France time +1 hour

The time also changed to summer time a couple of weeks ago

All via Automatic time by GPs ticked in Infotainment.

Older Kodiaqs do not have this option.

There is only: time adjustment manual or GPS.

Nothing about automatic timezone or daylight savig time.

I have been searching for the automaic timezone adjustment by VCDS for a long time as I travel a lot and my wife annoys me all the time asking which time is correct, the car one or the Waze one.

So far no luck, but good they are offering this feature for newer cars.

First Superbs 3 had this option too.
