Mud flaps

Featured Replies

Has anyone had mud flaps on a Superb?

Worth it ?

Do they keep the side of the car cleaner ?

Do they get clogged up much ?

 Thanks

Fitted mine before I drove it, they do help slightly and mine haven’t clogged up in 60K miles, but i do jet wash my wheel arches when I wash the car.

I've got them on my S3 Estate and I do think they keep the worst off the car.

I've had mine on since the car had a few thousand miles on the clock. They make a difference. Mine have never been clogged up, though I've not been through any proper snow yet!

Yes ,yes, no.

To counter qoute the legendary Jim Trott (Vicar of Dibley)

Fitted them to both of mine and made a big difference to the splash on the sideand muck inside the door shut.

Hi,

More than words, some pics...  Take a look here at what I posted on February 26th. ;)

I do. But had them from new.

I always have mud flaps fitted to all the cars I own.

I see it as s courtesy also to people following you ;)

Fitted mine recently, front n rear.

They definitely make a difference to the muck that sticks to the front door panel and on rear bumper.

Highly recommended.

Fitted them to my last 3 vehicles to keep the sides clean(er) and well worth it...  I've only used genuine parts though.

I've always had mudflaps on my cars.  I used to fit them myself in my younger days but now I negotiate them into the purchase price with the dealer.  Like the above post, I too use genuine parts as aftermarket ones for universal fitting never fit so well.  Apart from keeping the sides cleaner, I find it gives a bit of protection from grit and stones thrown up by the wheels that can damage the paintwork.

i got mine from AliExpress, and it was a perfect fit, and good quality.

+1 that would like to get the aliexpress link. The number of available options when doing a search is bewildering... If someone got it right do share 😉

I had a bad experience on Aliexpress or Ebay with Audi Q3 mud flaps. Bad Chinese copies, pour quality plastics, too soft, Horribly scratch sensitive... I had te return them to seller, to finally buy original ones by my local dealer.

For these Superb 3 mud flaps, I didn't even try to look on those websites. I only compared with Superskoda.com, since they propose original products or really trustworthy and good quality products. Mine come from Superskoda. Original Skoda products, that perfectly fit the bodywork and are easy to install.

On the picture above, the screws have very small head. It may note offer proper pressure dispatch on the mud flap, especially when driving thru a puddle. These narrow headed screws may perforate the mud flap in this case and definitely ruin the mud flap. IMHO, a 'large' washer would be highly recommenced with such screws.

IMHO, another reason to buy OEM mud flaps.

Link here of the ones I got from AliExpress.

Since fitting them, both front n rear mudflaps have been attacked by speed humps and high rear kerbs (when reverse parking) - both front n rear flaps survived well.

While mine came supplied with nice big screws, I didn't have to use them as the holes on the mudflaps aligned perfectly with existing wheel arch liner screw points, so I removed the screw, put flap in place, screw back in.

A close up here of the mounting points.

zoom picture, washer is added
original screws become rusted just in two years

@MartiniB

Skoda, simply clever! 😁

Good point, if you added large washers. 👍

The link is not working... can you please post it again?

OK, I was able to sort out the link but the mud flaps look really small, like the ones shown by MartiniB. Can you please confirm these are the ones you bought and that the add looks the same?

Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know wat happened to the link.

As for confirming - Crikey!!!  I've already posted a dozen pics above!!!  U b the judge.

They're not rally flaps big.

They're not tiny flaps.

They're not look at me flaps.

They r strong n flexible flaps.

N most importantly - they do their job by protecting the sides of the car.

Not sure why everyone is stuck on "size matters"!?!?

Sorry, I did not mean it that way... It's just that the photos on the seller's add don't seem like what you have in your car, they seem very short/narrow, but it could be a matter of perspective. I guess for 12€ there's not much to loose either way.

Cheers!

Sorry ? No! It’s a very good pratice to use ‘search’ function instead of starting a nth thread on the same subject. 😉 👍
