Deleting EGR valve for VW 9n is this possible?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone my vw polo 9n have a problem with egr valve it is possible to delete it ? I so how can i delet it.

What engine is in it?

relatively straight forward you will need an egr delete pipe for the appropriate engine

this will throw a check engine light however so you have the choice of mapping the light out or coupling it with a remap and mapping out of the light.

emissions testing and checks at mot stations have become stricter in recent years so any modification of the egr system is now an mot fail so you will need to know a friendly mot tester.

or to keep everything above board fit a new replacement egr valve.

@BigJase88 The OP's location shows as Swaziland.  Maybe MOT restrictions as easy as those can be in the UK.

In the OP's profile it says BKY engine so that makes it fitted to either a 9N1/2/or 3

As the OP is located in Swaziland according to the profile ?  I wouldn't like to say what vehicle testing procedures are in force ??

His engine is a BKY-code 1.4 petrol. It has an all-electric EGR.

Cleaning the inlet manifold end of the stainless pipe that feeds the recirculated gases back in often fixes EGR faults on similar systems.

The end labelled 18 in this diagram https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/polo+derby+vento-ind/po/2004-253/1/133-133032/

Unplugging the electrical connector will stop the valve recirculating, but you'll have to live with emissions fault light if you do that. Maybe you already have that? Have you got any fault code numbers?

@BigJase88 If you click/tap on the poster's username, it takes you to their profile page where you can view these details, even on a phone. It's extra hassle though, and doesn't help if the profile is empty.
