How to get tyre filler foam out of carpet?

Featured Replies

I stupidly left a used puncture/tyre-filler foam bottle in the back of my car. In today's heat, leftover foam/liquid have oozed out of the tube and gone on my carpet and a pair of winter gloves.

Anyone know how I can get this stuff off?

Thanks!

Most tyre weld is made up of the following ingredients...

Water (~60%)

Ammonium Hydroxide (~10%)

Propylene Glycol (~10%)

Vinyl Acetate - acrylic emulsion (~10%)

Propellant Hydrocarbon C3/C4 (~10%)

The ammonium can be dissolved using drain cleaner, propylene glycol can be removed with washing-up liquid, vinyl acetate can be removed using chloroform (and we all have plenty of that laying around! :D) and finally the propellant has probably already evaporated.

Personally if after giving it a good hot, soapy scrub it hasn't budged, it'll be new carpet time!

Or buy a boot liner to cover the stain.
