Door window regulator replacement

Just a follow up on my previous post regarding the door regulator where TBM and Wino gave me good info and advice -thanks again

Having now received delivery of a new regulator and steel panel yesterday and found out my nearest Skoda garage has closed so I am wondering if non Skoda pop rivets will work the same as I have seen a picture of the oem ones and they have small sections cut out of the rivet body (possibly to allow easier compression while fixing?) plenty available on internet.

I found a post by a member who had difficulty with the Skoda rivets and used rivets that split to make a better hold on the blind side.

The holes in my new panel are approximately 8.5 mm.

Also whilst that nearside front door that the new panel is for hasn't rained in yet but I suppose  it would be prudent to also seal with plumbers gold.

I whish Skoda spent a few pennies and had captive nuts on the later doors, save a lot of hassle.

I would guess any rivets would do as long as the right size. You would only drill them out anyway if you were to gain access again.

I just used whatever fitted from the mixed bag of rivets that came with the gun. That was at least 12 months and 30-odd k ago and nothing's caught fire yet.

Thanks trickstargee and Steves Truck for your thoughts, I sourced a new steel inner door panel with new regulator attached, then I found out Skoda are shut down at the moment, 

After searching the interweb I found original Skoda rivets  so just needs me to get it replaced, looked again at Wino's post on the removal /re fitting this morning which is very clear to follow.

I have some hybrid sealant (used for my work) that does similar to p gold.

Question is do I remove the new panel foam seal and use my sealant, leave foam sea and put my sealant to the inner side as well to keep foam dry ?

Personally, I just fit the new carrier with its own seal and then seal around the outside. Makes it easier to remove the sealant if the panel ever has to come off again.

I agree with that. Front doors seem to be less prone to leaking anyway.
