Planning to paint brake Calipers. Removing calipers, yes or no?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I am just planning to paint my Brake Calipers. Could anybody give me any video link about how to remove the brake caliper of Octavia 1.4tsi hatchback 2017 Facelift.

If it is too hassle to remove the caliper then I'll paint them without removing. Any tips and tricks please and also what colour do you think I should go for. My car is black in colour.

Red calipers always look good on black cars in my opinion, though a few Skoda drivers like to have them bright green (Kawasaki Green I think it's called).

I've painted my calipers with red hammerite, just took the wheel off and painted them in-situ after cleaning them with a wire brush.

Paint them black. Neat and tidy that way. Bright colours suit more performance orientated models.

& since the wheels are coming off you might as well service the brakes before painting, or take out pins and pads and clean off any rust and paint and then grease pins, rear of pads and refit.

To take and replace brake pads, don't I need especial tools to squeeze the cable so that brake fluid doesn't come out...I am not expert, hence I wouldn't be touching brake pads unless it is just few screws to remove. but I wish if I can change brake pads same time.
