Hi all,

New owner to skoda.

Have purchased a 2017 Octavia Diesel VRS in grey. Love it!, i have 6 weeks left on the warranty. Looking for a engine upgrade. Was thinking either chip or plug in box?.

I have seen a few previous threads, but was wanting an update

Cheers G

Superchips have just gone into Administration so I wouldn't bother with them as you will get zero warranty once they have your money. When the lockdown lifts in a few weeks you are not too far from AmD in Grays Essex (near Lakeside Shopping Centre, Thurrock). I have used them many times as others on here and you are guaranteed an excellent result and service as well as good as if not better fuel consumption after one of their custom remaps. Your engine should be good for 220-230bhp but more impressive would be the 500nm of torque. They charge £500 and you can pay just 10% deposit (£50) with 12 installments at zero interest (less than £38 per month). Welcome to Briskoda Jim and good luck with the upgrade. I was once at the workshop when a 2005 Leon Cupra diesel was mapped from 156 to 209bhp which was a very good result for that 1.9 litre engine. They also mapped my 2013 Octavia 2.0TDi from 147 to 186bhp and torque rose from 246lb/ft to 317lb/ft.

Hi, many thanks for the info. I'll give Amd a ring only 40 miles away or so.

The 220/230 brake with 500nm of torque.....is that ok for reliability?. Clutch / gearbox etc?.

Yeah my 2017 facelift petrol Vrs245 bought new did 29,000 miles before I sold it last December had a 6 speed manual gearbox and no problems for the standard clutch despite numerous rolling roads (you will get a laminated before/after print out for power and torque) and 2 track days and it still averaged a remarkable 40mpg overall. It also had 336bhp (stage 2 map) and 517nm to cope with. Ben is the ECU wizard there he really knows what he is doing and I've never had a problem hence I keep going back for more.
