Octavia 2 key remote fob not working

Featured Replies

I'm after a bit of advice after I dropped my key and it now won't lock or unlock the car but will start it. I changed the battery and the light on the fob comes on.

I think the circuit board is probably damaged, anyone got any ideas as to solve the problem, apart from buying a new one, Thanks in advance,  Keith

I had the same issue, there are some fragile resistors inside the keyfob that fail.

EDIT, the resistor I was talking about is infact a glass capsule which is the immobiliser transponder. If your key is still starting the engine then the part I was thinking might be the problem, isn't. In my defence it was 9 years ago :D

Not to be specialist but a friend's same issue was simply fixed in a electronic tech /lab which they soldered back again something of those too small parts on the pcb.

They checked those also.

Yours maybe be the other way that could have been cracked in the layers..?

Update on this topic.

My brother bought a Jag S Type that only had one key and decided to get a spare.

He phoned a local auto locksmith to be told it would cost £175.

I went online and found a company that did home/work visits and the same key was £100, a big difference.

When he had done the key for the Jag I asked if he could sort a key for my vrs. He took the damaged key into the back of his van, stripped it down, put it back together, plugged his computer into the car and reprogrammed the key, it worked.

It had chucked the code when I dropped it, possibly the battery had come loose.

£30 later and I now have two working keys again.

This is the company, highly recommended,
