Replacing existing seats with new / swap interior

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a question related to swapping the seats and doorpanels in the octavia combi.

Is there anything i should be aware of, before buying a complete new interior and swapping with mine? (Seats, doorpanels and cushions)

I'm concerned about differences in electric plugs for the airbags and heated seats, and lastly the option to lay down the rearseats from the trunk from the donor car which my car doesen't have (I would love to have it however).

My car:

2019 Octavia Combi, TSI (2litres)

Heated front seats

Manual seat adjustment

ambilight door panels

No remote from trunk to push down rearseats

Swapcar:

2018 Octavia Combi Scout with leather interior, TDI (2litres) (different to my car)

Heated front seats (identic to my car)

Manual seat adjustment (identic to my car)

Ambilight door panels (identic to my car)

With remote from trunk to push down rearseats (Different from my car)

Would this cabin fit into my car without issues? The dealer has not been able to provide pictures of the cables for the car in these corona days, so before i i plan on driving 600km, i would like to know it's a sure swap and fit.

I only know that i would need to order 5E0886373 (Holder/grommet) seperately, to have the rear seats fitted properly again as they apparently are a one time use.

I have not been able to find anyone who swapped their interior from another car in their MK3 model unfortunately.

So the only differences are the donor car has leather and seats with boot release?

If the have they boot trims plus wires etc for rear release, you may be able to get that functionality working.

Failing that, I don’t see any obvious problems, bar being careful regarding airbags etc.

Not am expert by a long way mind.

#1, correct. Thats what i could find from the car's VIN on erwin.

Since the dealer is half closed because of lockdown, he isn't able to send new pictures of the wires etc. so i'm trying to clarify myself if there is a risk of a difference.

They don't have the boot trims listed on their page, but i assume they have them somewhere. I've only been able to find the wire mechanism pull button (5E9885591 and 5E9885592), but i'm not sure if i would need more than that in case the dealer doesen't have it. Obviusly trims for the trunk, not sure if i need to make sure something should be fitted to the seats already.

Would the new seats require coding on the car? Not sure if the car would complain about new airbags in the seats.

I didn’t recode when swapping a seat out once, but that was not a mk3.

My airbag comment was more about making sure everything is disconnected from the battery and drained before touching it.
