MPG. It's taking over my life.

Averaging around 10 miles from every litre of diesel bought is pretty damn good if that covers a lot of driving in all weathers and seasons and types of driving and loads carried etc.

Many very good economy figures seem to be from vehicles doing pretty low average speeds and in cars with just a driver in them on roads that suit getting low fuel consumption figures.

  • There's a guy here you should meet...

  • I occasionally get pleasure from this also... Well actually seeing how low I can get the MPG .. It's surprisingly difficult to get below 22 MPG so always a challenge  ..

  • How ironic   Cleaned up and irrelevant posts removed.    Whilst on lockdown maybe it’s time to read through the rules?    Otherwise lockdown may start to get even more boring w

I'm not complaining, just reckon a lot of people must spend their whole life being overtaken B)

Someone said my 36mph average was slow yet I saw this today in Auto Express from a 542bhp Bentley Bentayga just 22mpg at 32mph average.

Not yet Nick sticking swabs down our throats in the morning, then take to a depot in Nottingham, they despatch to a lab in London or Liverpool then hopefully Saturday get our negative results, fill in the new Passenger Locator Form and QR bar code then we can set off to the Airport Sunday morning. The joys of leaving the UK in 2020.

The Bentley might have a common VW Group issue where the Stop / Start has failed so it sits there with a drink problem like Winston Churchill.

Think the 4.0V8 twin turbo petrol engine and 2,400kg kerbweight might be why the Bentley has a drink problem?

Thanks first week looks SUNNY:sweat: no rain and between 26C and 29C so I'll try not to get sunburn LOL. Enjoy lockdown.;)

I would have hoped the Bentley had Cylinder deactivation and coasting function, which would be doing the business lots of the time and it would just have a thirst getting its huge mass up hills or sitting with stop start inhibited..

It probably has both but journalists like to switch everything off. It did better than the Aston Martin DBX with it's similar Mercedes V8 4.0 litre producing the same 542bhp which averaged on test 18.9mpg (official 269gm/km) compared to the Bentley's 20.2mpg (despite having a higher official 302gm/km).
