Car sales during Covid 19 ,interesting move by DVLA

Featured Replies

That calls for more than a wash and vacuum between tests, a deep clean between tests of the vehicle and keys.

Maybe even a defungging (made up word)  of the AC / Ventilation system.

I wonder which Ministers of States the DVLA run that past.  The Transport Secretary, the Secretary of State for Health, The Chancellor, The First Minister of State,

the PM etc etc.

@vrskeith

You are putting a lot of trust in people.   In the like of me that loves an un-accompanied road test.....

Like those i see at Tesco that take a trolley then put on gloves, then do the shop and then return the trolley and head off to their car with gloves on or thrown in the bin.

You need a car cleaner prepared properly in PPE to be preparing cars before hand over and after.

Give them the same hourly rate as a Dealer Principal.

Grant  Shapps , Matt Hancock will sort it  by  passing the buck to the Scientists

Process,procedure and PPE. "Working day and night"

I don't quite understand how it's ever been the DVLA stopping this from happening? "Unaccompanied test drive" has always been an (expensive) option when getting a quote for a trader's insurance policy.

It is the Dealership / Manufacturers selling cars that is changing, relaxing lockdown rules and continuing Social Distancing.

Not a change of Trade Plates or Insurance rules from before March 2020.

We have been doing this with motorcycles forever.  If there is a will there is a way.  Might need a family member with the person being tested perhaps, emergency stop could be interesting.

@lol-lol  Test Drive, not Driving Test.      Driving lessons in cars unaccompanied would be interesting...

Reminiscent of the inflatable co-pilot in Airplane :)
