Headlights/rearlights coding

Featured Replies

Hello guys, I would like to ask if any of you know how to program headlights & rearlights, so when you lock the car, lights just fade out. Same as in the video.

The fade out is neat. The general video is a great example of just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.

@SC03OTT yes, the rest of the video is awful, but the fade out looks nice

If it was legal (?) I quite like the rear lights blinking with indicators. The number of cars on the road with dim and small indicators is crazy.

Agree that the fading looks good.

IIRC only amber lights are allowed to flash so even though Leuchte programming on the O3 would make this possible I don't think it would be legal.

Know exactly what you mean about tiny rear indicators - my pet hates are VW's with a tiny amber indicator surrounded by a red brake light (so with the brake light illuminated the indicator is all but invisible), and Audi's with rear indicators so small a magnifying glass would be useful.

@PetrolDave thought it would. Maybe a slight dimming would avoid any unwanted legal attention rather than a total blink? Still achieves the clear identification of turn intention but retains the red light function.

That would be possible by setting a maximum brightness level for the brake lights for the whole period the indicators are enabled - both the on & off periods.

Still not sure about the legality though ...

Well, the only thing I want is when you lock the car then lights just fade out instead of staying ON for 15 seconds as CH/LH. I want them to fade out instead of this function. I’m not interested in indicators in phase with brake lights etc.

I think you could get away with fully extinguishing the rear light when the indicator is on.  I’m basing that on seeing either Jaguar or LR suvs where the indicator LED cluster is also the rear light.  I forget which model specifically it is.

I actually found a good quality LED replacement for the filament lamp was ideal.

Don't know any way to do that, sorry.

Sorry, we took over slightly.

Keep hunting on interwebs. There are loads of instructions for all sorts in random places. Maybe if you have the time sit in your car for a couple of hours digging through the settings on obd11 to see what is available. If I get a chance I may do the same to look at the indicators.

Edit: How does the system shut the lights off when you have CH/LH function turned off?
