can anyone adivse me if you have to do any arch work to lower (Aprox. -35mm) a fabia on 18" audi tt alloys?

how low can i go without the ride being affected to much, ive had many lowered cars and they have all pi*sed me off eventually (speed bumps etc..), dont realy want to go and wreck my fabia with it being to low!. any help would be appreciated:confused:
