Simos 9.1 tuning?

Featured Replies

Okay let me start by saying I’m not educated on the differences in ECUs and which ones can be tuned. I know the med stuff on the 1.8t are pretty adaptable but other than that my only experience is aftermarket ECUs where the sky is the limit for what you want to do.

I am assuming the stock map is pretty basic considering the only sensors I can recall on the engine itself are the cam sensor, maf and the one that counts teeth on the flywheel the name escapes me right now lol.

So if I were to do some engine work, cam, valves and exhaust for example I would obviously need to dyno and map it but can anything actually be done? I am thinking with regards to fuelling through the rev range. I’m not sure what the capacity for the stock injectors are but I think they should be okay for the amount of extra air we would be pushing in.

I’m not seriously considering this as I’m pretty sure a upgraded cam doesn’t exist it’s just an idea as the car is a toy and what ever I eventually decide to do I want it to be different and in doing so would like to keep the little 3 pot engine.

You mention 9.1 in the title, a 1.8T in the first paragraph and finally talking about keeping the three pot at the end of your OP. What car and engine are you talking about?!?

It’s a BMD which has the simos 9.1, I was just clarifying that I have very limited knowledge of ECUs in the first paragraph sorry for the confusion
