wipers stopped working

Featured Replies

My wife and 2 kids are being bought back on a flat bed by the AA.

The motor for the windscreen wipers has given up.

The oct is 3 1/2 years old and we have had it since new.

so if your thinking on taking out the extended warrenty as we did :scatter: do it

going to pick the oct, this am. wiper motor burnt out.

Is it an expensive repair? And covered under your extended warranty?

Is it just me and my motor, or are Octy wiper motors crap from the word go? Next time it rains do a simple test. Run the wipers at normal contiunous speed for 10 seconds and count the number of completed wipes (perhaps best done whilst stationary eh?). Then repeat the exercise on so-called fast speed. I reckon that if like mine, you will find about 10% difference - whoopie-dooo!

To save my obviously weak wiper motor - maybe it too may be about to burn out - I've taken to using Rain Ex on the screen. Marvellous result, and usually intermittent wiper setting is sufficient, even on water-drenched motorways!

Highly recommended

Rain Ex is good but only works at about 40+ mph, so it is useful for motorways as you say but is a waste of time for town driving.
