1.6 MPI Engine update

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a very reliable 1,6 MPI BGU motor in my beloved Octavia MK2 pre-facelift.

I do really love it, but I start thinking on some optimisation. I know it is not the best base for "tuning" (definitely not a 1.8T) but I started to think of the flows optimisation to gain a little extra power and dynamic (better intake, better spark plugs). I it possible, is it worth?

Can you redirect me to the related topics or suggest some reading to where to start or why is it impossible.

Thanks in advance,

Best Regards

smerchen

Thanks for the information langers2k,

I am also thinking to change the 8 valves to 16v. I am not sure it is possible to change the cylinder head and camshafts and it is necessary to update not just the hardware parts but some software also (ECU or something).

I have thought it results more, thanks again langers2k

I guess changing the fuel injection also not to effective. at least I will buy bigger rims and a bit lowering.

It is a reliable engine, but not very dynamic.
