Display on a Octavia 1.6 TDI CR SE

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I am new to the Skoda family and have just bought a Octavia 1.6 TDI CR SE  on a 61 plate and have a question to ask of the knowledgeable on this Forum, my car doesn't have the buttons on the windscreen stalk but can you still get things like average fuel consumption as at this moment I just get the speed in KPH and just another quick one can you change the clock to 12 hr instead of 24 hr.

Many thanks

Martin

morning, given you  have your phone on the bluetooth in pic, i presume you have a multifunction steering wheel?

if yes...

press the back arrow button, to get to main menu,

scroll with the rhs wheel

go to the mfd option and press the wheel to select

scroll up and down using the rhs wheel to see avg fuel, speed etc.

you can swap between trip averages and long term by pressing the rhs wheel button

24 hrs setting -

go back to main menu,

scroll to vehicle settings and click

clock option is in there along with a few other comfort options.

if stuck let me know, ill do a video walk through and post it up

Hi Mac11irl,

Thanks for the prompt reply, and yes it has a multi function wheel and the only thing I can find relates to the phone here is a few more pics, does the car need to be either running or be driven to change the settings please, and a video would be great.

Cheers

Martin

Duplicated images removed

need to have ignition on, or engine running to activate the steering wheel functions.

the "first click" for the radio isnt enough.

the arrow button will then bring you back out to the main menu.

ill video later on when i get a chance

Yes I have tried it with the ignition on, engine running and whilst driving and still nothing except the phone menu, I have tried holding the button and return down (not at the same time though) for 10+ seconds nothing, I think that is what it tells you to do in the manual, I think I have tried every combination over the last couple of days that is why I was hoping there is some little trick I am missing or could it be that the module isn't working , I was hoping that someone can confirm that the model I have (Octavia 1.6 TDI CR SE) or all models of Octavia indeed has this function.

Thanks again.

right my video is a bit pointless then....

can you work your way the phone menu? go into the phone book and come back out etc?

Yes I can get in to the phone book and back out off, that is the only menu I can access that's why I was asking if a Octavia's have this feature or it's my car that either doesn't have it or it's not working, I have 1 months warranty with the car and would like to get it sorted.

Once again thank you as your help is much appreciated.

Martin

id be bringing it for a check then on your warranty...

if you can access the phone menu and navigate, theres no reason why you should be able to get to your vehicle trip/settings data also..

I think the wrong steering control module can cause back button issues?

If you have a satnav, setting a destination should cause the maxidot to show the driving instructions. You can then hit back to get to the main settings. You'll still probably get stuck if you enter the phone menu though...

Unplugging the Bluetooth module should also let you get to the settings. It's probably under one of the front seats.

Hi Langers2k,

I tried setting a destination (what is the maxidot?) then went to the menu on the SCM and I could access all the phone functions had a look under the seats and couldn't see any Bluetooth module but did find a socket in the righthand side of the glovebox, can you please confirm anybody that this model of Octavia actually has vehicle trip/settings data fitted please.

Thanks again

Which headunit have you got? Can you add a picture? When you started the navigation it should have caused the instrument cluster to show something like this:

The LCD information screen between the speedometer and rev counter is often called a multi-function display (MFD). In the Octavia, there are a few variants and the highest spec/most fully functioned is known as maxidot. This is what you have fitted.

It should give you access to various real time data, vehicle status, the phone menu your stuck in and plenty of settings.

Example from an Octavia:

More in depth example from a Golf MK6 but the options should be very similar on your car:

as langers said, the bluetooth was an optional extra. trust me you have the other stuff, you also have a fault with the steering controls which has left you stuck in the phone menu.

contact your seller under the warranty and get it sorted by them.

Thanks to both of you, that all makes sense at least when it goes in on Wednesday I have an Idea what I am talking about, I did think it was strange I could only get the Bluetooth phone working.

Thanks Again.

Hi Everyone, just a quick update it briefly when out of the phone menu (no idea why just looked at it had done it it's self I never touched a thing) for about 30 minuets so I could actually see everything and swap the clock from 24hr to 12hr then like an idiot tried the phone menu and guess what it stuck in the phone menu again, but at least I have had a glimpse at what it can do, so we think it could be the steering control module ?? or could putting it on the computer and resetting sort it out.

Cheers

Martin

probably the control module.

turn off the BT on your phone, so thst it doesnt connect. it might default back to the mfd menu then
