Air con not working

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just had the air on regassed as it wasn’t blowing cold air.... 300g odd taken out and 500g odd put back in but still no cold air!!

checked fuses which are all ok and reset flaps on climatronic unit to no avail.

I can’t seem to locate the relay for the aircon. Does anyone know where this is. I cannot hear any clicking when I switch the aircon on or off so I’m hoping that’s all it is.....

any advice would be appreciate. Thank you.

If you have a Superb II there is no relay for the air con, it doesn't have a magnetic clutch.

You really need diagnostic equipment like VCDS to find what is wrong with the air con easily. If you don't have any the best you can do is check all the fuses and wiring to the compressor valve.

VCDS will likely tell you that it is working (modulating valve commanded) but when you look at the pre and post evaporator temperatures you will see what you already know that it isnt.

If you are lucky it will bring up a compressor shut down code and you can investigate that.

No clutch but there is a shear plate, look down with a torch to see if the pulley spindle nut is rotating.

If modulating valve is being commanded then its likely to be faulty, it can be changed but you will need the gas removing first and a regas afterwards, test the new valve on the bench against the old valve before committing to yet another recharge, you want to be sure that the new one works & the old one didnt.
