Boot not unlocking with other doors

Featured Replies

Hi, my boot has stopped unlocking with the other doors when I press the key remote. There’s no noise so doesn’t seem like anything is stuck. It doesn’t even open with the boot open ring button on the remote unless I hold the button down for a few seconds. Is there a deadlock on the boot or some way the remote may have had it’s settings/calibration changed? My husband took a load of stuff to the dump which was about the time it stopped working so I was wondering if he’d knocked something maybe? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

From locked, 1 press unlock on key unlocks driver's door only, double press unlocks all including tailgate.

A long press is required on the tailgate unlock button to open tailgate, don't open unless your key is safely in a pocket, as it will relock when you close it, if you dropped key inside...good luck getting in!

Does the boot lock operate after you open and close one of the other doors? I.e. open and close a rear door then try the boot. If it works it means the micro switch on the drivers door has failed. Do you still get a “lights on” buzzer warning if you leave lights on and open the door?  If not then this too means micro switch has failed.

Thanks MicMac, double press no longer opens the tailgate as well as the other doors though. Can only open with a long press on the tailgate button.

Golf-Fiend, opening and closing a door doesn’t activate the boot to be opened and yes I still get a warning that the lights are on. Thanks for the suggestion though

Since the tailgate unlock works it must be an electronic gremlin.

In light of the current global situation perhaps lack of use has allowed the battery to discharge to a point where the initial drain for starting took the voltage to a level below that tolerable to the electronics.

Suggest disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and retrying, even charging battery if it is suspected of being old/bad.

The key is disconnecting the battery and allowing residual charges to drain, essentially resetting the computer.

It’s probably the switch under the boot release button OR a broken wire in the rubber boot twixt body and tailgate.

If it works with the tailgate open key button but not the door unlock button it can't be, the problem surely lies with corrupt electronics.

When you say 'no longer opens the tailgate', do you mean 'no longer unlocks' the tailgate???

Cos all else you mention is normal. How old is the car???? I will have to check mine but mostly use fob boot button long press anyway.
