Spare wheel size?

Featured Replies

Anyone know the correct size of a spare wheel for a Kamiq SEL with stupid 18" rims?

Mine is still awaiting shipment from Germany. It's got a puncture inflation kit but no spare wheel.

It is an "already built" car.

I have a set of 16" steel winters.

So is it essential to have an 18" spare?

It is not essential to have an 18" Spare wheel.

A use in an emergency and reduce speed spare wheel can be 16" with an appropriate size tyre pretty near to the same circumference / total diameter of the tyres on the car.

?

So what size tyres are going to be on the 18" rims?

EDIT.

215/45 R 18

Saw a spare on eBay 195/60 R16

Will that be ok?

Yes.

Are there none advertised on BRISKODA?

18" wheel with low profile tyre might fit in wheel well but 16"  205x60xR16 fits in tight.  Personally I dont think 18" is good for kamiq. The low profile will be bad for the alloys and give you a harsh ride.  No doubt some will think otberwise.

Does not give a harsh ride its very soft the spare you get from factory is 195 60 16

The 195 60 16 will  be excellent I'm sure, but as for the 18" low profile giving a harsh ride, that has been the opinion of others posted on here. Since you find it not to be the case then thats great news. Others might adjust pressures maybe.

Spoiler

This is the spare for Kamiq 18” Crater wheels.

Goodyear  195/60R16 89H

I think these are the sizes

195/60 R16 89H (winter tyres only or emergency spare) 640mm diameter
205/60 R16 92H (653mm diameter)
205/55 R17 92V (658mm diameter)
215/50 R17 91V (1.5 tsi only, but not in UK), 648mm diameter
215/45 R18 89V (650mm diameter)

Winter or all season tyres often come with higher load ratings

One thing I would check is if the bigger sizes actually fit in the wheel well, doesn’t look like more than a few mm spare, perhaps a worn tyre will but one with full tread might not.
