Skoda Superb - any problems with "booming" and cabin pressure that Octavia had?

Featured Replies

Hi all. A while ago (2015) I bought an Octavia but had awful problems with the notorious cabin booming and air pressure issues that made being inside pretty unbearable for me and my wife. In the end I handed it back.

However I'm interested in a large estate that isn't too pricey and the Superb fits the bill. However before I investigate are there any problems associated with this model in that area?

Thanks!

Not the Superb but I experienced it in both my Octavias, the MK2 was worse than the MK1, opening the rear windows slightly would resolve the issue.

The Yeti is absolutely appalling in this regard due I believe to the panels being made from kitchen foil.

Its something that I would definitely want to check on a test drive.

I owned a 2012 Octavia 1.4 Tsi.  The cabin noise was worse than any car I have owned. But it was tyre noise rather than pressure booming. However when I switched from the OE Bridgestones to Goodyear Vector 4 Season Gen 2 the tyre noise disappeared. Engine/wind noise was now the main noise at all speeds and not loud enough to be an issue.

With my current 2018 Superb Estate on Conti All season from new noise has always been less. No excessive tyre noise or boomimg. I've driven my Superb back to back with the 2017 Skoda Scout I drive sat work. The Superb is noticeably quieter.

Well actually sometimes there is booming when one rear window is open for the dog. But if I partly  open another window it disappears. With windows closed no booming in either car.  THe only noise issue I have had was rattling front brake pads. Fixed with shim kit under warranty.  There was a TPI for my car re this issue. Noticeable at low speed RH turns.
