new cat.

Featured Replies

hi guys i have a 2002 skoda fabia 1.4mpi,i was inquiring how much for a new catalytic converter to be fitted would be,

but is it possible to fit the cat yourself and if so any instructions to do this.

regards sdc.

I would take to a garage unless you have a pit. Be careful where you get part from as I bought a whole exhaust for another car and it was slightly too short. If similar to fabia vrs I was painting underneath recently there is a joint that is clamped to midpipe downstream of cat. Socket set or spanner might get this off or angle grinder if seized.

Not sure about near engine bay, but usually exhaust  goes to manifold. If like a toyota exhaust there is probably a metal circular insert that is sandwiched between manifold and exhaust that seals when clamped. Not sure however.

Do not use exhaust joint sealant containing silicones upstream (befote) cat. It will contaminate it.
