Octavia Scout

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After a little advise on the Octavia Scout. Thinking of getting an ex NHS 2013 one with pretty high miles 96k but with full skoda history for 4k which looks a good price.

Has anyone had an ex NHS and or a similar scout any issues and what to look for when buying would be a great help.

I've had 2 Octavia estates now as company cars and have been great but alot lower mileage in them.

Thanks again.

Simon

That’s a pretty low mileage for an NHS fleet car that’s over 5 years old. My 14 plate vRS is nearly on 130k now. Check the cambelt has been changed as it’s overdue by age and mileage now if it’s not been done. The EA288 has 3 water pumps, the 2 electric ones are known to fail.

yes as ive recently found out those electric coolant pumps are a pain.

I’ve got a 2015 Scout on about 76k. Wise to check the cam belt & pump as above, also make sure the Haldex has been serviced, if not an oil change is not hard but messy. I’ve not encountered many issues. As they use them as response cars check the brakes etc, I doubt you will find much amiss. That’s quite a good deal, but makes me worry about the value of mine.....

Thanks all for the info.

Whats the MPG like?

Cambelt.... you will get a variety of replies, my VAG indie suggests 5 years or 75k miles, whichever first. The Haldex oil should be changed every 30k miles. My mpg, only going by the car itself, so not sure if reliable, is about 50 to 55 mpg. The best reading I have had was on a light footed light load journey which gave me 61.
