Fabia 4x4 project

Featured Replies

Heres my project in the making, just purchased these 2 to make a Fabia 4x4  will post pics as i go not going to be a quick project but the plan is a stripped out Fabia with TT running gear.

Already stripped the Skoda Audi next and then the cutting begins

You're going to find this conversion tricky because the TT is based on the Golf platform while the Fabia is a Polo, so the TT drivetrain won't physically fit within the available floor space.

.... which could make for a very interesting build thread 👍

OK, O/T but this looks like a cross between an Opel Manta 400 and a Firenza droop snoot. Which is no bad thing.

There was a forum member (BossFox) on here who did a 4x4 conversion to a Citi-Go....which is only slightly smaller than a MK1 Fabia..

Darkside developments got the car eventually & fitted a diesel engine..

any new progress? a

ps. looking at the full tt gear on the fabia...looks sleeper-ish(which is what i imagined when checking the width and length of the tt compared with the fabia running gear) ...what did you do exactly ? for it to fit ok!

pps. it's my dream project for the my mk1 fabia! :D 4x4 sleeper!

The tt width and length are within a few inches of the Fabia so centred the wheels in the arches, and centred the body, had to take a few inches off the front chassis legs though, I’m trying to keep the body standard but may have to roll the arches to cover the wheels.
electrics wise it’s a case of repinning the lights to suit.  I’m no mechanic but it’s quite straightforward being vag group cars

Or you could pull the rear arches (instead of or as well as rolling); depends on clearance required.

In a good or bad way ? Doing it this way meant parts for the running gear is available of the shelf no wiring issues or dodgy driveshafts

Yeah... you're right about that, but now you basically have a tt with a Fabia body!🤣

But i don't know which is a better solution...how you did..or the other one, bolting the running gear on the fabia body...

Ps.  How did you exactly mated the cars?

You might be able to use some generic aftermarket GRP arch flares like a rally car and trim them to fit.

I can get a wide arch kit from pesch motorsport as a last resort, I’ll see how far I can push the arches at the back, the front should be easier as I can stagger the rear of the wing out and create width

It’s a bit like an old tamiya rc car changing the shells

I gutted the Skoda and topped the tt and welded them together, I’ve got a full cage to go in which will be connected to both shell and chassis for strength.
I think doing it this way was the most straightforward, my brother did the same with his firenza, Impreza floor pan firenza body
