Hi, new to the forum and looking for some help. I just bought a 2006 octavia 1.9tdi BKC, it was a non runner. Traced the first issue to the ecu so bought an immobilizer deleted ecu and now the car runs. The problem now is the dash doesn't work properly, all the warning lights are on and flashing, no rev counter, no temp gauge, no indicator or light on warnings. Also no communication with any interior modules on vcds. Checked all fuses and they all look good. I've tried changing the gateway but that hasn't changed anything.

Could it be the ECU needs coded to the instrument cluster/modules?

yup, needs a vcds plygin and the ecu to dash needs to be coded to say hello properly

same thing happens if you replace the instrument cluster.

Update all fixed.

After loads of searching I found the problem was one of the 2 power supply wires going into the gateway. After fixing that wire everything is working as it should be.
