Lower wing trim

Featured Replies

Any idea how this trim attaches? Looks like there may a sticky pad behind it, but I’m not sure. As you can see, it’s not flush with the adjacent trim.

Adhesive tape. Dealer fixed it for free, it’s due to the mud flap design.

Thanks, I have some 3M sticky pads somewhere, I’ll have a go at sticking it back down.

My last car looked like that. Not as bad as yours though. I just lived with it.

I think you’ll struggle to get a sticky pad to hold it. The mud flap fitting is forcing it away from the body.

I can see a sticky behind the upper part of the trim, looks about 30 x 10 x 3mm .

I’ll try getting it off the one remaining side (car) that its stuck to and match it up with something the same thickness, but maybe a bit wider to give a greater grip.

We shall see 😀

It's a warranty claim.

Skoda are aware of this fault, as mentioned it is due to the design of the front mudflap. They revised the design of the mudflap to stop it happening.

Unless you replace the mudflaps the other side will do the same and eventually your repair will need doing again.

You aren't the first and won't be the last...

Out of warranty now. I’ll have a go at fixing it myself , but if it doesn’t work I won’t lose any sleep over it. 😊

Thanks for the replies.

Finally got around to fixing this, I bought the later type front mud guards and used a 3M sticky pad. You can see the difference between the old and new type mud guard.

What was involved in sticking that trim back down ?

Mine is doing the same, would you suggest getting the revised mud flaps ? Could you give me the part number please

Hi, yes the revised mud flaps a the way forward, the old type have a lower clamp as seen in the photo and this clamp pulls the outer trim out of position.

The part number for the revised type is 565075111A  (the “A” identifier for the revised type) and I bought them from Superskoda . I stuck the trim back down with some 3M sticky pads I bought from eBay and cut down to size.

cheers

does that little trim just peel off, is it not held on with any clips etc ?

The little trim is actually attached to/part of the plastic wheel arch trim. I used a plastic trim tool to pull it away from the body enough to clean and apply a sticky pad. A second pair of hands is useful to have at this point.

thanks a lot
