Hello All

First I would like to state that out of most forum communities I have been privilaged to meet, this one has probally got one of the best communities I have met.

Anyhow enough of the sloppy stuff..... :orb_bonk:

My question to ya all is..... I now need to do my thermostat, as it is completely dead now :( and my engine temperature now doesn't move off of bottom. I understand that this issue can affect your mpg!

My question is: - 'How much increase in mpg does the new thermostat offer me, if any at all?'

I ask this to see if it is viable to spend the

Well I have decided to get an official skoda part as this is a common problem on the Felicia 1.3, so as a result a re-conditioned or un-official part may not last long. And the

Aye that is what I was gonna do, I am just interested in the kind of improvement in fuel economy, so I do not get uptight when I see how little or much difference I see in my mpg :D

Again I am greatful for your response :D

I would imagine it will run a great deal better, currently it will be on cold start running all the time.

you sir are a god

I have noticed my mpg go from 38mpg to 30mpg where my gauge was just below mid line to now not getting of the bottom :(

I was worried that there may have been another issue arise causing the the rubbish mpg :D

What would your thoughts be on this issue?

Great thanks

Id say do the thermostat (its knackered anyhow) and go from there.

Id be suprised if you didnt see a dramatic improvement on MPG. My 1.3 Felicia barely used any juice at all, was a wicked run about, and cheap.

i have a felicia 1.3 lxi mpi t reg 1999 , what would be considered as a normal distance to travel from a cold start before the temperature guage moves up into normal ??? .

A 2 or 3 of miles of urban (30) driving, IME.

It tends to go over centre scale briefly and then back down suddenly as the 'stat opens.

If you are stopped when the 'stat opens you may even get steam from under the bonnet if the rad is wet: they run hot.

Hello Simonize here.

Get it changed the thermostat and unit for the water coolant temp sensor that is! If not the car runs rich, sends fuel to the catalytic and bang it goes to. And yes it cost me

would anyone know wether it is normal for the felicia temperature guage to show a reading when the car has not been used / started ( ignition not switched on ) in the current warm weather i noticed my temp guage showing a reading about mid scale .

Hello

(I have been away for two weeks)

As for the temp sensor reading half way, I would take a look at that and to be honest just replace it. if in doubt chuck it out.:) before mine gave trouble it use to be erratic read cold e.g. 60c even when it should be higher or even 20 after a stint down the motorway. it did lead to changing a catalytic due to rich a fuel mixture added to old age lol. SO for the case of

The temperature gauge needle of my 1.6 is firmly at the bottom of the scale when cold.

cheers all[/quote']Here is a new thermostat housing for a Felicia 1.6 complete with thermostat and temperature sensor. The thermostat is inside the left hand side of the housing as photographed. The housing is on the RHS of the engine and has 6 pipes connected to it - so is easy to locate.
