Almost out of ideas....... Door lock woes......

Featured Replies

Afternoon,

Had car scanned (2006 1.9 vrs) and came back with the following Faults.....

01031 - Central locking key switch; Drivers side; Unlock 27-00 Implausible Signal.

01308 - Central locking Thermal Protection 35-00

symptoms are locking and unlocking itself whilst driving and stationary, alarm going off at random times etc etc!!!!

Now I’ve replaced the drivers side door mechanism (non genuine) and I’ve also replaced the drivers window and locking module! Whilst doing this I looked for broken wires from the door seal, into the door and didn’t spot any..... I’m wanting to sort this out as quick as possible..... Any one have any pointers ? Seems to happen more if car wet/been washed but not conclusively ?

Much Thanks in Advance,

Ade

Have a look at the boot that seals the bellows to the a-pillar. Water runs down past that so if it isn't (or wasn't before your recent check) sitting tight against the paintwork, moisture may have got in and corroded contacts.

I have a similar thing happening and haven't yet solved it, despite attempting a couple of fixes. No fault codes on ours though. Luckily, ours has no alarm, so it's less antisocial.

I wonder what and where that 'Thermal Protection' is? 🤔

Thanks for the reply I’ll have a look I presume you are on about at the top side of the boot, the thermal protection side of things, Chris Bellman said it was because the lock is constantly locking and unlocking itself. Must admit bugging me now, and yes anti social too 🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes, the the top end/car body end as opposed to lower/door end. They are hard to get onto the little white carrier that in turn clips to the connector housing.  Once everything's unplugged and off, its much, much easier to get the white bit into the bellows first, then clip the whole lot in.

I need to get back into the driver's side one on ours to give it a spray of contact cleaner, to see if that helps.

Right found wire running to white block connector (into a pillar) has some bare wire showing........ Upon close inspection , I did a temp fix of wrapping with electrical tape and now does it much less but not a perm fix! What’s best way to split and join the wires ? I’ve got a spare loom coming soon, so will have a identical gauge wire, and I’ve got some heat shrink to wrap it In....... Just want to put a final end to this nightmare

I had few broken wires and was inserting pieces of wire between the cut ends. Not a pretty sight.

Would be better to order the complete wire loom.

Some people use this.

I just soldered some new bits of wire in. Been fine since 2013.
