4x4 Suspension

Featured Replies

My front shocks are blown and i need to replace them soon. The problem is that since my car never oficially arrived to this country, noone has them on stock.

What other VAG car uses the same heavy dutty front shocks as the 4x4?

Does anyone recommend an aftermarket suspension for a reasonable price?

This is pretty urgent since my left shock has lateral play:eek: , so it's almost gone. I'm virtually running on springs alone. The current shocks are just a support for everything else.

:(

What engine do you have?

What engine do you have?

Sorry, forgot to put the info.

2002 4x4 1.8t, 5-speed manual. No mods besides the boost controller.

Check the rears as well, the springs have a habit of breaking so you might need front & rear which would point you towards a full replacement.

I have a 2002 4X4 Estate. The vehicle data sticker for my car - to be found inside the front cover of the Service Schedule and on the boot floor under the carpet - lists G34 and L50 which relate to the 4X4 Kombi with HD suspension. If you have a look at what the G and L codes are for your car, I will see if I can look up the correct part numbers for the coil springs and shock absorbers for your car.

Hi

I have managed to locate some springs and shocks before for a 4 X 4 hatch.

So if I can help you please let me know.

I would need the chassis number and help you from there on.

If you are just looking at replacement OEM shockers your dealer should be able to help you

shock absorber

for models with heavy duty suspension

I got that number from Vagcat.com and took it to my skoda dealer. I also went to VW dealers and audi and seat (hoping some of their haldexed 4motion models share the front shocks). Is that the right number?

I'll get the G & L codes after lunch. Thanks

Are these aftermarket, stiffer, sportier springs and shocks? If so, i might be very interested. I'll post the chassis number after lunch too. Thanks!

If you want stock items & can collect them I have a complete set of 4x4 suspension off a SEP 2002 4x4 hatch that covered 8000 miles sitting in my garage

If your interested make me an offer

Sorry for resurrecting this thread from the dead.

After all this agonizing pain and suffer, i have found these 2 options to be the most "reachable" for me. I'd like to hear your opinions about these kits because i really dont mind much the ride comfort; i look for performance and reliability.

FK High-Sport Coilover Kits

AND

KW Variant 1 Coilovers

If i could afford an F1 suspension for my car, i would buy it. But since i cant, i'd like to hear what you think about these 2. I've noticed that there aren't many aftermarket suspensions for the 4x4 :(

Will one of these turn the SUV-like handling 4x4 into a VRS ? (you know what i mean :P )

I've got the KW Variant 1's, totally transformed the handling. You won't go wrong this these.

Can't say about the FK kit, for the above reason.

:iagree: except i have varient 2

good bit of kit :)

2 votes for the KW vs none for the FK. One more vote and i'm going for the KW.

Max

Let me be the decision maker

Ive had KW 3 & KW 2 on my 4x4 at different times, both were excellent, whilst I have no experience of the KW 1 I can only believe they will be the same high standard

KW V1s here, recommended, that makes 4. Off you go now. :D

I think the FKs are pretty good for the money but from what i've heard the threads that you adjust the ride height on can corrode after a short while. No such problems with the KW Inox bodies.

I'd say avoid the FK's, I ordered a set and when they finally arrived were sent straight back due to poor quality finish and mechanical defects.

KW direct in Germany can be contacted on +49 7971 9630215, there are a few there who speak good english & they are usually incredibly helpful. They could probably advise the nearest agent to you or might well ship direct, they have shipped direct to me when I needed some very quickly, as your existing suspension is broken this might be the quickest way

UK main Distributor is Recaro tel +44 484220, talk to James or Neil

Jabbasport are also a UK Agent

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!

No Probs, if you ask nicely they also do some discreet little stickers if you are into stickers

Also dont know what the roads are like where you are but I lowered my 4x4 to around Rs height & have grounded it a few times, If its likely to be a problem & as the sump is incredibly thin you can get sump guards from Skoda for the Octy
