Which Kodiaq engine/trim??

Featured Replies

I’m thinking of changing my 1.4 TSI 150 SEL as it’s coming up to 3 yrs old. Undecided on which trim/ engine to get. I rather fancy an Ediition 2.0 petrol or diesel but Skoda tell me its no longer available ?

Anyone got any thoughts on the trim and engines? I don’t like DSG but seems if you want more power that’s the only option !

I wouldn’t let the DSG put you off, the Kodiaq is the first DSG I’ve had and my next car would certainly have DSG, don’t think I could ever go back to a manual now.

You can still get new Edition models from stock, but you can’t order from factory. I personally would go for another SEL, for me it has the right amount of tech/ creature comforts, and it hasn’t got the severe possibility of having leaky sunroof problems, or horrible slippy leather seats.

Which ones have horrible slippy leather seats/

We just got our SE-L and opted for leather as my wife finds it much easier to slide on leather seats getting in and out, as she has mobility problems.  The leather has to be the most unslippy and grippy leather I have ever seen in a car.   If there is a slippy leather option I’d love to know as we might have to change ours.

Are you familiar with the Kodiaq range at all?  Here in the UK, which I believe East Lothian is still part of, only the L&K comes with sunroof as standard,  but to suggest a leaky sunroof is a 'severe possibility' and that leather seats are 'horrible and slippy'?

Have you tried auditioning for the Haddington amateur dramatic society? I reckon you stand a great chance of being accepted.

Unappreciated picture removed as it did not lighten the mood.

OP - I'm trying to buy a 1.5tsi at the moment.   My thoughts on trims and engines - given the 16week lead time I started looking at other possibilities but found the 2.0tdi not to be that more fuel efficient and any possible savings were wiped out by the extra cost. I also found out that for me at least, when I looked at insurance costs, a DSG was adding almost £100 over a manual. In an ideal world I'd have a manual but appreciate that's not possible on many trims.

The 2.0tsi was a definate no no. Although I haven't driven one, from all the research I've done, economy takes a hit as does insurance. As does price !!!

If you want an auto with an engine that returns reasonable performance and don't mind the hit on economy then there's loads of choice but for my needs, the 1.5tsi Sportline which has just been introduced is the pick of the range.  AND I OPTIONED A SUNROOF !

Between root and his bewildering replies and Shy who'll no doubt find a way to fit in both his Superb's and his wife's karoqs MPG in to this thread, I'm begining to loose the plot with this forum.

You lost it long ago as an Armchair expert.  You call others that, yet get your info from a search engine.

Say what comes to mind.   Leaky roof, leather seats,  maybe slippery when wet.

As random and unhelpful as usual - makes no contribution to the OP's question.

If any moderators are around, perhaps having a word with root might be an idea because again, these people are adding nothing to discussions - they're only aim here seems to be provocation.

And by the way root - I am an armchair expert, I've never said otherwise, in fact I make it quite clear.  The trouble with people like you is you never read replies because your mind is already made up.

Now why not just respect the OP's question and those others who've come here to read about a Kodiaq, not your seemingly random, irrelevent drivel.

@Scot5

Did you notice that i posted one picture after you went off on one at the post @Kenny R made relevant to the OP's question.

You do not half get yourself in a twizz calling people all sorts.  You need to chill a little.

PS

I reported my inappropriate posted picture just so there is no doubt that the Mods will be aware.

I appreciate that it’s all too easy for a thread to get sidetracked and one innocuous reply seems to have started the movement and then It continued from there. At least it hasn’t  actually managed (yet) to get additional obligatory MPG figures from the Leicester Fleet though!

Anyway back to the OP’s question but in a generalised way as I’m not versed in the various levels of Kodiaq spec. I don’t know which engines are in the higher powered cars but having the DSG would only make the driving experience a better one IMHO. It is a natural with ACC and if you really did feel the need for a bit of ‘manual’ driving then the gearbox caters for that too.
