Vibration

Featured Replies

Hi I have a 2009 facelift VRS 5 door, I have owned it for 3 years, has just over 10000, miles on it, it developed a speed vibration at around 65 mph then it drops off when you accelerate to just under 80. If then you push on it vibrates hard, and even on the way back down in speed. I have read before they can suffer from front drive shaft vibs. I have just replaced both drive shafts, front coil springs and legs, plus anti roll bar ties, also I have fitted new wheels and tyres, but it still has the vibe any one have maybe any ideas its, also since replacing the drive shafts, on full lock clicks, I have checked the length of the drive shafts just in case, and all is right their, any thoughts  Cheers Steve

Try decelerating in neutral to further isolate the source.

i will give it ago, any thing is worth a try.

This could still well be driveshafts. Even if they are new, they are all re-con units theses days and a lot of them out there for sale are junk. I previously worked in the motor parts sector for a long time and come across some bad re-con companies, some so bad it was unbelievable. The 2 most reliable brands back then were AMK and GKN. That was along time ago and even brands I had every confidence in then, I wouldn’t recommend to an enemy these days.

Ta for your thoughts, I agree as I worked in the industry. And quality of goods was an issue. But it would be strange to have exactly the same vibration, the chances of two lots of shafts being exactly out of balance in the same place, would be a good bet to win.

How true that is.

I've experienced that it could warped front discs or your wheel balancing is out.

Thanks for reply, it has new performance discs on on it , also brand new wheels and tyres. I put the old set back on the car. No differences, so wheels have been ruled out. Cheers

I had to get my wheel balancing done twice as the first I had it done, the machine was of calibration. The 2nd garage was perfect
