so its 1,2 all the time ,even when its remmeped?

what if i change the turbe for better one is it going make big differende?does it have something to do with engine or turbo is completely different thing.i mean if bigger and better turbo can damage the engine ?

thanks

I vaguely remember some kind of stat about the boost being set by the ECU to 1.35 bar, when standard? Something weird in that my guage read 1.55 bar regularly before I was remapped. But that was a different turbo so perhaps an ECU set 1.35 bar was 1.55 in reality?

Remapped I'm not 100% - depends where you go. I think the most had from the standard turbo is 1.7 bar, with it generally being around 1.6. My turbo is set to 1.8 bar with it hitting 2 bar+ on a regular basis.

Boost rises to 1.2, but it does it very quickly. Around 1.6 when mapped, about as much as you want to do on the standard turbo

Not unless it is remapped to suit

A bigger turbo wont damage the engine if its kept within safe limits.

Just to clarify - changing the turbo to a bigger one on it's own doesn't make any difference to boost levels (ignoring the possible slight variation in how it gets to a particular boost level etc).

A remap may and usually does alter the boost levels to higher ones. The standard turbo can cope with a certain maximum, a hybrid turbo or a bigger turbo in general may cope with a higher maximum and sustained boost level safely.

You get a lot more heat with higher boost levels, which you'll want to get rid of.

Jason has a very large turbo fitted, runs at high boost and to offset this has a big FMIC. He is running a phase 2 (3?) remap, customised to his requirements and car/engine.

I'm currently running with a (different) FMIC, a hybrid turbo, and with a phase 1 remap. This map has increased the boost but it would have been safe with the standard turbo. I will go back to get a phase 2 done at some stage soon and then boost will be raised significantly to take full & safe advantage of the mods I've done to the car :)

I don't think I have a "phase" remap. :o But comparing it to Allards mods, I'm around stage 3 I think? The remap just involved 8 hours of Jabba's custom work.
