Recommend me a sportscar....

Featured Replies

I've recently found out that I can't have a 350Z or an S2K without making major sacrifices. So based on the following criterion, which is the best new or used sports car for me?

Budget : £17 to 18K

Maximum 3 years old

Boot must be able to accomodate a folded wheelchair

RWD or 4WD (bored of FWD)

Coupe or convertible

At least 200BHP

Not American

MG ZT 260. 4.6 V8. Commendable! Quality motoring at affordable prices. he he he.

I'm not up to speed on UK prices so forgive me if any of these are too expensive:

Old shape S4 (265hp V6 Turbo produced til 2002 or 2003 IIRC)

M3 (343hp, might get an early new shape?)

M Roadster (Z3) or M Coupe (produced til 2002) both have the E46 M3 motor post 2001 but can only make 325hp due to exhaust system constraints.

RX8 has a monster boot for a car of its type. They're quite common these days but make sure you get the high power version and dont believe the coblers about using as much oil as petrol  My brother has one and checks the oil every 3rd fuel fill-up. Its used about 2 litres of oil in 2 yrs (not including scheduled servicing).

E36 M3 gets my vote though a local garage has the newer shape for £18999 in black with chromed bling wheels, looks very nice.

Budget :

I see a conflict between "boot must take a folded wheelchair" and the average sports car. i.e. the wheelchair would fit in the boot but it's hard enough for some able-bodied people getting in and out of my car as the seats are so low.

Scooby at motorpoint for 16K?

Base Evo under 20?
