ATAVICO mk2

Featured Replies

When I bought the ATAVICO it was a fairly good-looking 140bhp Mark 2 OCTAVIA Elegance saloon, with a couple of dings in the rear and more rust than was initially evident. As I pushed out the worst of the dents & wire brushed the rust some of the letters fell off so I removed them all prior to rust-proofing (Jenolite converter & Rustin's rust paint) filling, filing, sanding & spraying the charmingly amateur job I'd made of it.  When I glued them back on my hand was mysteriously guided to reassemble them as ATAVICO, which I gather is an Italian word for one dyed-in-the-wool of their ancestors.  I hope mine aren't too horrified.

Then I found the rest of the rust... & learnt to weld, after a fashion.

A smear of filler over the worst spatterweld & some more paint, then a couple of liberal applications of Bilt Hamber waxes.
