Aircon issue

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a really strange problem, when my Aircon is set to reserculate the fan blows at full force, however when set to get air from outside the cabin it sounds like it is blocked and very little airflow occurs, not sure where to check first have removed the cabin filter but that has made no difference

With the age of the car there could be a build up restricting the air intake.

TBH I'm not sure where you can access it, behind the firewall/scuttle panel near the ECU I think.

Blocked pollen filter.

I say that on the assumption, probably about to be disproved by those more clued up than me, that when recirculating air it has already been through the filter so the filter is bypassed in that mode.

In your comparison of air flows, did you set the same fan speed manually both times?  For example manually set fan speed at 3/4 of max.

The climatronic system usually reduces the fan speed when switching back from recirculation in order to set the correct cabin temperature.

In my comparison, the fan speed was manually set to the same speed, in this case Max as it is most noticeable at this speed

Two flaps behind the glove box control the recirculation. One of the motors has failed. Take glovebox off and you can see which flap is not moving. Get a second hand motor off ebay. Happened to me not long ago 👍

Thank you, will try to take a look with the glovebox out tomorrow night, can remember seeing a fault listed in odb11 on the climate control so hopefully will be an easy swap or maybe just a clean to get it working
