Cylinder numbering. AWX 1.9 PD130

Featured Replies

Evening.

after many evenings replacing a worn camshaft, lifters and a load of other bits in the process, I still have an intermittent misfire on cylinder 4.

Ive run VCDS and established that this is a faulty injector.

Can anyone tell me is cylinder 4 at the front or the back? as in, which is CYL1. I have a replacement coming from Darkside developments but don't want to replace CYL1 by mistake.

Thanks.

Cylinder 1 is always the one closest to the crankshaft pulley and furthest from the flywheel.

It got a bit confusing with the 1960's FWD Triumph 1300 but still remained true.

Thank you very much.

This is what I had always assumed, with Cylinder 4 (the one I have a faulty injector on) being by the flywheel.

my query came as id read somewhere that VCDS/VAGcom read these back to front??

Very probable, almost everything else is ar5e over elbow, did my head in trying to get my head around the torsion values for cam timing.

Did you replace the pd injector wiring loom while you were at it? A know fail (especially when disturbed) due to the wires being in hot oil and they get brittle. Can show up as a faulty injector!
