Steamed up windscreen just above dashboard vent

Featured Replies

Hi.... Not a big problem but this morning when I got in the car, the windscreen was partially steamed up but only in a very localised area directly over the dashboard/windscreen vent.  A few minutes with the blower on sorted it out but it seemed strange that it was there in the first place considering it's summer and not rained in the last 24 hours.  Incidentally I noticed yesterday a small damp patch under the car and a bit of dripping from underneath which I assumed was probably from the air con system and not abnormal.

Has anyone else had this peculiar localised steaming up ?

Cheers

That's a normal behavior of the ventilation system in summer, yes. Caused by aircon with cold air inside the vents + hot weather outside.

Water underneath is also completely fine, that's how aircon works :)

Thanks fergard..... Good to have a second opinion reassure it's nothing unusual (such as water lingering in the system below windscreen which I was thinking a possibility).

Sounds all fairly normal to me.  Just out of sheer curiosity, how old is your Superbe?  If it over 3 years old, then you might want to get the A/C serviced (usually a re-gas of the R401 and checking relays and cleaning the A/C system itself).

It's two and a half years old, that I have had since January.

Look to get the AC service done in the next 6 months.

I assume you recommend having that done by an air con specialist and not Skoda dealership or Halfords etc..?

No - it depends on who you feel most comfortable with. Skoda can do the service or you can get an independent dealer to do it.
