Angel Tuning

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any experience with Angel Tuning for mapping? Just looking for a remap on my standard 1.4 tdi.

If not any other recommendations? Quantum & Celtic both have agents near me for their generic reflash as will revo I would guess.

I had my '08 Golf GT Sport 170 TDI remapped by the Scottish agent for Angel Tuning in 2013.  I subsequently had it dyno'd on my local VAG specialist's notoriously conservative dyno.  It made close to the claimed 210 bhp and 325 lbs-ft.

I've recently had my Yeti 150 TDI remapped to a claimed 180-185 bhp by the same guy.  He found he couldn't get a virtual unlock code to flash the ECU via the OBD port so we agreed he'd remove the ECU. The whole exercise took about 3 hours and several

cups of tea. He still only charged me the quoted £289.

On both occasions, he came and did it on our drive and then insisted that we went out to test the cars to make sure I was happy with them.  The Yeti now has considerably more go than it had originally.  I've no reason to doubt the claimed figures which are less

optimistic than some I've seen.

On the basis of my experience, I'd be happy to recommend the Scottish Angel Tuning agent, Paul Winston.  I'd hope you'd get the same quality of service from your local guy.

Thanks very much Schtum. Always nice to hear the good and bad before you invest in things like this. I've used a couple of different mappers but these were custom maps, some on standalone ecus and petrol track/race cars so not really their game.

There is a Search function on Briskoda,

and even a Search engine with keywords 'briskoda angel tuning' brings up a few threads.

Searching Angel Tuning came up with every thread title containing 'Tuning' unfortunately. Searching Angel only gave only results regarding angel eye headlights.

Just had a play with what's included and did get 2 kind of relevant results from a few years ago thanks. Still keen to hear from others, even if its good/bed experience with the other software brands mentioned.

I have used them to remap my Mondeo 2.2 TDCI.

They offer a mobile remap, and were happy to come up to me and performed the remap on my drive at home.

The remap was, for the 12 months I had it, excellent. A fair bit more power and slightly better economy for day to day driving. The most noticeable thing about the extra power is the ability to accelerate when at motorway speeds.

Yes there's more power for overtaking on A-roads etc., but the big "Wow!" for me was how well the car pulled in top gear on the motorway. Very impressive! It's still the best thing about the remap IMO.

There's some slight smoke under full acceleration, but no great black plumes of smoke belching from the rear. There were no issues with MOT smoke test.

The only issue I had, was when I first had the remap, I noticed that when I took my foot off the throttle after I aborted an overtaking manoeuvre, where I previously had some pretty rapid engine-braking, I found that the engine seemed to still be getting fuelled and I had to brake to slow my car a bit, where previously just lifting off was enough to give me engine braking to do the job. It came as a bit of a surprise at the time, but I suppose I got used to it pretty quickly, as that was the only incident I can recall, and I don't notice it now.

I would absolutely recommend them based on my experience, and intend to get my 2.0TSI remapped by them at some point. I think I've just about convinced the wife to get her 1.4TDCI remapped by them.

I couldn't get an answer when I phoned them recently, but that may be a COVID-19/holiday thing.
