EASYLIFE MOTOR CLUB JOIN UP SCAM?

Featured Replies

Bought some PPE masks etc from a firm called Easylife more than a month ago, haven't seen the items yet.

But after placing the order someone rang up from them talking about a car maintenance scheme .I said I wasn't interested as I do all my own maintenance and repairs where ever possible. He said there was a £10 fuel voucher weather I joined or not ,and would send me the details anyway. He ended with the words "do you understand what I'm telling you". On saying this alarm bells sounded in my head. Some years ago in dealing with an online white goods supplier we had bought a washing machine from had used the same words trying to sell me a lifetime warranty I didn't need. I got my money back that time.

At this point I became insistent and was adamant that I wanted nothing to do with this scheme what so ever  and send me nothing.

I noticed odd amounts going out of my bank account ,ie £1.99 and £59.99 and though this might be regarding the PPE and it might be finally on its way.

The other day I had a letter saying I was a member charged £1.99 in the first trial period  and £59.99 for a year if I didn't cancel within 14 days. The letter arriving after the cut of date!

So the fight is on to try and get my money back, but I'm not holding my breath.

To late I looked at google and trust pilot and there is a lot of complaints about this firm.

Of course the guy on the phone is probably on commission to sign up as many people by hook or crook ,but it seems wrong they can take money from your account without a signed agreement.

I post this in the hope other forum members wont be caught out.

And as for Easylife I will make sure we never go near them again!

Thanks for raising @bobspark

Contact your bank, cancel the DD. They should help you with a good explanation.

I personally use one card for online, that's linked to a mobile app. I get a mobile notification as soon as anything touches it. Anyone forcing me to use bank/direct debits who I don't know. I walk away from, I suspect you may do too now.

I've also moved this to a different forum so it can be seen by more eyes.

Yes thank for moving to correct forum. I try and be careful by having a different account holding a small amount of money  for online purchases. Good point about the mobile app.

Thanks Bob

Yes I wrote a letter stating the facts in no uncertain terms, and it looks as if the money has been refunded into my account.

As for Easylife ,once I have a bad experience with a firm I never go near them again.

Thanks Bob
