VRS Full Size spare wheel? Can you show me how this fits in your car please?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

Want to pick up a spare wheel for my car - was going to go with space saver but a chap on ebay has a good condition Gemini which sounds far more appealing.  I suspect the 18" Gemini will sit proud of the recess in fact I read one of the guys had one and said it does.  It would be great if those folks that have one could take and post a pic of a full size Gemini in the boot so I can see the compromise in the lifted floor please?

Oh and I've got a FL 230 - dunno if there were any differences in the spare wheel recess over previous years?

Thanks for your help in advance

Phil

P.s am looking at my username... wondering if I can change it as no longer in search 🙂

A full size spare doesn’t quite fit right, it will make the carpet sit a bit proud. It’s not built for a full size spare and honestly, a spare saver is better than nothing and it won’t affect how the carpet sits.

I had the same problem so I kept the space saver as well as this

Check out the one of the Freedom packages available in the shop and you can change it to something more suitable.

Optimal is to have thin spare wheel, it's enough and better then repair kits. Potholes usually ruin tire or entire wheel beyond this quick repair. Plus, it leaves so much spaces around, you can put pretty much everything you need: event entire repair kit. :)

Have you got the variable boot floor? If you have then I suppose having a wheel sticking slightly above in the lower section won't matter because it'll be under the floor.

But I've had spacesavers in my last 2 cars and they're easy to have on to be able to limp to garage.

Don't get any tyre goo crap. Loads of tyre fitters go spare if it's been used, especially if you want the tyre fixing. And it's not a fix all solution. Get a nick in the sidewall and it's not fixing that. And it's a once only affair.
