Hellos and Goodbyes

Featured Replies

I am stuck on the website. I can't find the path, (the button(s) to click) in order to join in the  Hellos and Goodbyes which one is encouraged to do?  I think I have been told that it is necessary to announce myself before asking meaningful questions!  Can someone help me with a few (precice actions) tips as to how to get going?

In order to give you an idea of where I need to go. here are my first questions - I will post them again as soon as I know to whom/where to post them.

I am a bit confused by the information I find Online including in the Skoda Citigo Owner’s Manual. I’m a fairly handy mechanic, but it seems like I’ve stepped into a new world! Can anyone field these apparently idiotic queries? The car in question has a VIN TMBZZZAAZDD614843

1.     The vehicle was inspected (by a certified AA vehicle inspector) and the report gives the 2012 model as CITIGO ELEGANCE AUTO.  I can’t find reference to this ‘Elegance’ model –Does such a thing exist?

2.     Am I right in thinking that I have a Hatchback? I see loads of references to Hatchback when looking for SPARES, but the word is not mentioned in the Owner’s Manual?

3.     The tyre size is 175/65 R14  Am I right in thinking that a) One has either Steel or Alloy wheels, b) that the ‘FULL Trim’ mentioned in the book refers to Steel wheels only?

4.     On a car with Alloy wheels a) is it OK to have a full sized Steel spare? I have seen wheel bolts advertised as not suitable for Alloy wheels – which is why I am asking - b) When using the steel spare wheel, does one have to have a different set of bolts to the ones which came off with the punctured tyre?

I thank anyone/everyone in anticipation, for any answers.

Regards, Eleoneleon

Hi,

You've made a good stab at saying hello in the right place; welcome to the community.

Elegance is a trim level, it has extra bits to the one below. In the citigo at least it's the top of the tree.

Yes, they are all hatchbacks in either 3 or 5 door.

Elegance would of been on alloy wheels originally. I ran mine on steels.

I guess so, so long as the rolling radius is the same and the bolts were suitable. I just had one set of nuts and they worked for 5years. I didn't bother with a spare, I used a can of magic. Only caught me out once in the higlands in winter. I could not figure out why it was pulling so much... anyway at midnight in winter on 'the road to death' I slowed down a bit for right handers... only when I got to the digs did I figure it was a slow tyre. The handy pump got it up the next day, and that afternoon, then the day I was going I took it to the tyre man :) So I've no idea if you need different bolts... maybe depends on the steel wheels?

Hope that helps.
